Adolphe Basler (1876-1951), the Polish-born art critic and dealer, met Modigliani in 1907, shortly after the artist arrived in Paris. In this essay, Basler traced Modigliani's artistic career, from painter to prolific producer of drawings to sculptor and back to painter, and recounted interesting and colorful details about the artist's life.
