1934–35 New York
Museum of Modern Art, New York, Modern Works of Art: Fifth Anniversary Exhibition, November 19, 1934–January 20, 1935 (exhibition catalogue).
With loans from a number of private collections and art dealers, "representing what would be desirable for the Museum's Permanent Collection today," the Museum of Modern Art celebrated its fifth anniversary.1 At the time, the collection already included a painting by Modigliani, which was part of the 1934 bequest of Lillie P. Bliss, one of the museum's founders.
