Solo exhibition
1940 New York
Valentine Gallery, New York, Twelve Portraits by Modigliani and a Group of Modern French Paintings, January 8–27, 1940.
Domenica Guillaume (1898–1977), the widow of Parisian art dealer Paul Guillaume (1891–1934), inherited a vast collection from her husband upon his death. A year later, she began sending paintings to the Valentine Gallery in New York where Valentine Dudensing (1892–1967), the gallery's founding director, featured many in exhibitions at his gallery. This show featured ten paintings consigned from Guillaume's inventory, along with two paintings that were on loan from private New York collections.
